Why Ellie exists

Millions of people started a GLP-1 medication, and most will stop at some point, whether from cost, side effects, supply, reaching a goal, or a coverage decision made for them. The 2026 case-series literature states plainly that no evidence-based protocols currently guide GLP-1 de-escalation; patients report improvising on their own. Trial extensions show that stopping without support returns most of the lost weight within a year, while real-world data shows nearly half of the people who stop hold their result. The distance between those two numbers is behaviour and support, and nobody was building software for it.

Ellie is a plan for the weeks after the last dose: week-by-week structure matched to the person's medication and timing, a daily protein floor, short strength sessions, and a drift alarm that catches regain early enough to act on. It is built for being on the medication, on less of it, or off it entirely. It gives no dose advice, sells no medication, and takes no pharmaceutical money. The research behind the app is published free on this site in the guides.

About Ellie

Ellie (iPhone, free to download with a paid subscription) is a taper and maintenance companion for people coming off GLP-1 medications such as Ozempic, Wegovy, Zepbound, and Mounjaro. It builds a week-by-week plan from the user's last dose, tracks weight against a personal hold line, enforces a daily protein floor, and raises a drift alarm when the trend moves toward regain. It was built by Metellus Productions, an independent app studio, after the founder noticed that the research on stopping GLP-1s describes a support gap that no clinic, drugmaker, or app was addressing.

Key features

  • Builds a week-by-week off-ramp plan from the date of the user's last dose.
  • Tracks weight against a personal hold line instead of a goal weight.
  • Raises a drift alarm when the weight trend points toward regain.
  • Enforces a daily protein floor, the single most supported maintenance behaviour in the stopping literature.
  • Logs doses and computes how much medication is still active as it washes out.
  • Community space for women stopping around the same time.
  • Gives no dose advice and routes every dosing question to the prescriber.
